As the snow cover slowly disappears, the scent of spring fills the land. The first harbingers of spring are already poking their heads out of the ground.
Even if nature blossoms a little later in the mountains than in the valleys, it shines in a no less fascinating blaze of color. The Velika planina high mountain pasture disappears under a carpet of purple crocus.
An unforgettable sight is the Golica (summit on the border between Slovenia and Austria, above the Slovenian town of Jesenice), which is also cloaked in white in May - only now, instead of snow, daffodils cover the summit in the western Karawanks.
The Vršič Pass is the highest mountain pass in Slovenia open to general road traffic and connects Kranjska Gora with the village of Trenta in the Soča Valley. Discover a beautiful alpine garden here on your hikes from June onwards.
In the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city, you can relax in the botanical garden or Tivoli Park - the largest and most beautiful park in Ljubljana. Or visit the botanical garden of the University of Maribor Pivola. At the foot of the green Pohorje mountains, the enchanting garden will impress you with its landscape of domestic and foreign flora.
An ode to alpine flowers
Do you love the scent of blooming mountain meadows? In late spring, when nature presents itself in its most beautiful colors, Bohinj is all about the International Alpine Flower Festival. Stroll across blooming meadows and get to know the diverse alpine flora in the company of expert plant experts. Experience the taste of alpine flowers on your plate, be creative with alpine flowers, experience the spring blossom in good company...
Stroll among flowering beds
Flower and nature lovers will certainly want to visit one of the largest botanical gardens in Slovenia, the Arboretum Volčji Potok. The public park near Ljubljana covers more than 85 hectares. In spring, it awakens in a sea of tulips and daffodils. And when the chestnut trees begin to blossom at the beginning of May and the rhododendron bushes are in full bloom, visitors are enchanted by the magic of the flowers.
Discover the wild beauty of the regional parks
Each of the three regional parks in Slovenia takes you into a completely different world. Discover the diversity of life in the orchards, the mysterious nature of the seepage lakes and the most impressive underground canyon in the world.
