Bike tour over Vršič pass from Kranjska Gora to Bovec

By bike to the Mangart saddle
The royal tour around the Julian Alps starts in Kranjska Gora (750 m) and leads over the Vršič pass (1,600 m) through the Trenta valley, past Bovec, the Kluže tower, Log pod Mangartom and Strmec to the Mangart saddle. After that, the route goes over the Predel pass through Italy, past Tarvisio, on a well-kept cycling path back to the starting point in Kranjska Gora. The entire route is about 350 km long and is known for two climbs: Vršič and Predel with the optional additional loop up the Mangart saddle.

Cycling tour over the Vršič pass from Kranjska Gora to Bovec.
The tour starts in the summer and winter resort of Kranjska Gora (720 m). First, it goes along an asphalt road past Lake Jasna and the cultural-historical memorial Russian Chapel through 25 hairpin bends into the heart of the Julian Alps and the Triglav National Park - to the Vršič Pass (1,611 m), where the mountain hut Poštarski dom opens its doors in summer. On one side of the pass rises Mojstrovka, on the other side Prisojnik. Both peaks surpass the 2,000-meter altitude mark.

On the other side of the pass, the road drops steeply toward the Trenta Valley. After 25 sharp bends and an even steeper gradient than on the ascent, the route passes the Soča spring and the information center of the Triglav National Park. Along the Soča River, the route continues through the Trenta Valley, past the narrow Velika and Mala korita gorges carved out by the Soča River to Bovec. The total length of the cycling route is 70 km - including about 900 m of ascent and 1,300 m of descent.
