"The special thing about cross-country skiing, however, is that it's a wonderful way to clear your head," says Alois Stadlober. "Not only does it keep you on track, but the stress of everyday life is left behind. And in the evening, one feels then, how positively the body reacts to it. Cross-country skiing is also quickly learned, in short: who can walk, can also cross-country skiing," he explains further.

Ramsau at the Dachstein
Ramsau am Dachstein in the Schladming-Dachstein region, known as the Nordic Eldorado of Austria, scores with a cross-country skiing network in a class of its own. With a total length of 220 km, the cross-country ski trail network extends at an altitude of 1,100 to 2,700 m in all levels of difficulty.

Ausseerland-Salzkammergut
Four cross-country skiing areas, a fantastic landscape, guaranteed snow and fantastic thermal spas and baths are just waiting to be enjoyed. With a total length of 258 km and 19 trails, optimal cross-country skiing conditions prevail at an altitude of between 659 and 1,650 m above sea level. The perfect cross-country skiing pleasure awaits you in Bad Mitterndorf. Directly next to the Grimming Therme, you can get on a 145 km network of cross-country trails and then loosen up your muscles again in the sauna or with a massage.

Eastern Styria
In the middle of the Joglland-Waldheimat region in the heart of Eastern Styria lies the Jogllandloipe at 1,200 m above sea level. Snow is guaranteed by snowmaking equipment and the possibility to make tracks even in the evening is available every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. thanks to floodlighting. In the Almenland Nature Park, north of Graz, enthusiastic cross-country skiers will find a small but fine cross-country paradise with a total length of 29 km.

Hochsteiermark
In Hochsteiermark there are numerous possibilities to pursue the "hobby of cross-country skiing". Whether in Eisenerz with lots of snow and a total of 3 trails, Trofaiach with the 10 km long Krumpenloipe over a dreamlike winter fairy tale in Tragöß with its Green Lake and a total of 3 trails, to the trails in Mariazeller Land or Wald am Schoberpass.
