An eventful mountain summer takes place here, in the middle of the Nockberge mountains, at an altitude of 1,763 meters - on the shores of three idyllic mountain lakes.

Between Carinthia and Styria, in the largest contiguous Swiss pine forest in Europe, lies a high plateau that is unique in its diversity: the Turracher Höhe.

Up here, in a part of the Gurktaler Alps, finally enjoy the boundless freedom and breathe deeply again. The clear mountain air is almost completely pollen-free.

Experience and feel the 3 Lakes Trail in a new way
Whether you are a hiker, runner, Nordic walker or trail runner - the individual routes on the Turracher Höhe hold perfectly maintained paths for every level of difficulty. This is true for shorter excursions as well as for extended day tours. Gentle alpine pastures, flat paths and idyllic mountain lakes provide the ideal setting for any hiking experience.

Guided hiking is well known - but the Turracher Höhe also offers the felt hiking: The popular 3-lake trail can now be "felt" in a new and expanded form. The circular trail can not only be seen, but also heard, felt and touched - in an active and interactive way. A special experience especially for families. From the heart-shaped Grünsee to the Schwarzsee with its characteristic old stone pine trees and on to the Turracher See, the easy-to-master route leads - with "experienceable" information boards, the Moor Gate, a forest of signs and a Flugbankerl. Cozy huts along the way invite you to linger with homemade specialties.

Info about the region
The Turracher Höhe vacation region is a high plateau at 1,763 meters in the middle of the Nockberge mountains and lies exactly on the border of Carinthia and Styria. In winter, the region is one of the most snow-sure ski resorts in Austria. In summer, the Turracher Höhe is characterized by three idyllic mountain lakes, which according to legend were created by tears of joy that God shed when he saw what he had created beautiful. The stone pine population on the Turracher belongs to the largest contiguous stone pine forests in Austria.
