The Lötschental is certainly one of the most beautiful valleys in the Valais

and lies embedded between the Bernese and Valais Alps in the UNESCO World Heritage Jungfrau-Aletsch area. The valley is about 30 km long and is the largest of the Valais side valleys branching off to the north of the Rhone.

The wild river "Lonza", which rises at the Langgletscher and flows into the Rhone south of Gampel, rushes through the entire Lötschental. The magical valley, as the Lötschental is also called, impresses with its unique natural beauties such as the Bietschhorn or the Lötschenlücke and captivates with its rustic charm. What counts is the intact nature, the peace and relaxation in a beautiful mountain world. Until the opening of the Lötschberg tunnel in 1913, the Lötschental was very difficult to reach - to the advantage of nature and customs. The villages of Ferden, Kippel, Wiler and Blatten are the centers of tourist activity in the Lötschental.

Ski mountaineering
In winter, the well-developed and extremely snow-sure winter sports paradise of Lauchernalp beckons. The sunny skiing area offers 33 km of slopes up to 3111 m above sea level and opens up a freeride area of a very special kind. Lauchernalp is as popular among active skiers from beginners to "pros" as it is among families with small children, snowboarders and friends of the white splendor. The ski area offers everything a skier's heart desires, from easy blue runs to challenging black runs.

Winter hiking & snowshoeing
Snow-covered fir trees, white hills, glittering snowy landscapes and nothing but silence all around. On foot or with snowshoes you can discover the Lötschental on 50 km of marked winter hiking trails.

Cross-country skiing
Are you a cross-country skier? Then explore our perfectly prepared cross-country skiing network, which leads you along the rustic Lötschental villages to the Fafleralp. For your personal sporting challenge you can choose from 35 km of classic or skating trails. Whether you are an ambitious sportsman or a casual connoisseur, you will find a varied offer in the Lötschental.
