A contrasting alpine mountain landscape awaits you, lovely alpine pastures, sunny meadows, high mountains and rugged rock faces...

...plus quiet mountain lakes and lively bubbling streams: the Haslital combines exciting contrasts.

In winter a paradise for skiers, snowboarders and winter hikers. In summer the Haslital attracts with hiking and biking tours full of views. Family friendliness is very important here, the region has a variety of discoveries and attractive offers for adults and children.

The Haslital is locatedin the heart of Switzerland. It forms the easternmost part of the Bernese Oberland and is located directly at the transition of the Pre-Alps to the High Alps. Thus it combines extraordinarily exciting scenic contrasts from the brittle beauty of the Grimsel Urgestein to the rolling hills of the Hasliberg and the wide green valley floor of the Aare. The destination encompasses the upper Aare valley from the Grimsel Pass to the confluence with Lake Brienz and the side valleys of Gadmen, Engstlen, Urbach and Rosenlaui.

The Haslital holds some of the most picturesque landscapes in the Alpine region. The Rosenlaui, for example, attracted important artists already 200 years ago. They were thrilled by the contrast between lovely alpine meadows, quiet forests and wild ice and rock masses. Today, especially hikers, bikers and alpinists are fascinated by the tranquility and the magnificent scenery. At the transition of the Rosenlauis into the Aare valley, the Reichenbach Falls plunge majestically into the depths. It has gone down in literary history as the scene of the violent end of master detective Sherlock Holmes. Another first-class attraction is the idyllic Engstlenalp, which is one of the most powerful places in Switzerland.

Fun and action are the order of the day on the Hasliberg. The sunny southern slope is well served by mountain railroads. Here lies the home of Muggestutz, the oldest Hasli dwarf. Two themed trails specially designed for children are dedicated to the good-natured mythical figure and his friends. The lovingly designed trails are very popular with families and are known far beyond the borders of the region. The Hasliberg also offers a varied network of walking trails, mountain hiking trails and bike trails. Literally the highlight of the area is the Alpen Tower. The panoramic mountain restaurant is easily accessible by cable car and serves as a starting point for adventurous mountain hikes.

The Grimsel region is considered the moated castle of Switzerland. In the barren, grandiose natural landscape, the precious water is collected in numerous reservoirs and used to produce electricity. Guided tours through the extensive power plants, many of which are underground, provide an exciting insight into the production process. The area also has a number of attractive excursion destinations, such as Lake Gelmer, the Tälli via ferrata or the Trift suspension bridge.

Thanks to its convenient location, the destination can be reached quickly from the major settlement centers of the Central Plateau. Incidentally, the location on the Grimsel Pass route has helped the region to maintain a lively exchange with other people and cultures for centuries. The population is considered to be correspondingly open and hospitable. At the same time, the Haslital has been able to preserve its sense of rural culture and tradition to this day. The Swiss Open-Air Museum Ballenberg is an impressive testimony to this. On the extensive, idyllic grounds there are over 100 original, centuries-old buildings from all parts of Switzerland as well as around 250 native farm animals to discover.
