Hikers are rewarded with breathtaking views and panoramas, but you should be free from giddiness. These five spectacular crossings you should know...

Raiffeisen Skywalk (Lucerne-Lake Lucerne)
At 374 meters long, the "Skywalk" is one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges in Europe; it crosses the Lauitobel at a height of 58 meters. Along the way on the circular trail toward Herrenboden, hikers can feel the forces of nature at various locations on the "der pfad" theme trail. The starting and finishing point of the four-kilometer-long easy hike (duration about one hour) is the Mostelberg station.

Bridges hiking trail over the Rhine Gorge

Rhine Gorge, the Punt Ruinaulta

From the Rhine tributaries to the Rhine Gorge (Graubünden)
The starting and finishing point of this moderately difficult circular tour is Reichenau. The trail goes along the Vorderrhein into the wild Rhine gorge to Trin Station. Here a 100-meter suspension bridge leads over the Rhine. After a short, steep climb, hikers can walk through the Bonaduz forest to the Wackenau viewing platform. From there, the trail continues in the direction of Bonaduz and then back to Reichenau. Families and decelerated hikers have the option of returning to Reichenau by train from Trin Station. The hike is twelve kilometers long and takes about three and a half hours.

Hikers walk up to the church of Negrentino

Suspension bridge near Negrentino

Up to the church of Negrentino (Ticino).
The hike begins in Acquarossa on the main road and climbs gently at first to Prugiasco. It continues uphill along an old mule track. The highlight of the hike is the church of San Carlo di Negrentino. The Romanesque building is of great importance both for its architectural beauty and for the precious Romanesque and late Gothic frescoes. Since 2007, a pedestrian bridge connects the church directly to the village of Leontica. Passing the church of Leontica, the mule track leads back down to Acquarossa. The six-kilometer, moderately difficult hike takes about two hours.

Hike over the panoramic bridge Sigriswil

Bridge path Lake Thun

Lake Thun Bridge Trail (Bern)
With a span of 340 meters and a maximum height of 182 meters above ground, the Sigriswil pedestrian suspension bridge over the Gummischlucht gorge is one of the many attractions of the Lake Thun Panorama Loop Trail. It connects the villages of Aeschlen and Sigriswil. The path towards Oberhofen then leads through a beautiful landscape with views of the breathtaking panorama of the Bernese Alps above the deep blue lake. At first without much difference in altitude, the trail then descends in the forest towards Oberhofen. In the Blooch area, hikers reach the first houses and find their way to the lido or Oberhofen Castle. The trail is about five kilometers long and the duration of the hike is about 1.5 hours.

Crossing a spectacular suspension bridge in Valais

Aspi-Titter suspension bridge (Valais)
The 160-meter suspension bridge at the foot of the Fiescher Glacier has connected the Aletsch Arena with Goms since August 2016. Thus, a continuous high-altitude trail has been created that leads from the Gotthard to the Chablais. The bridge is located in the heart of the UNSECO World Heritage Site and leads over the 120-meter-deep Weisswasser Gorge. Whether on a day trip or a multi-day hike - plenty of deep views are always included.
