Maribor is the city with the oldest vine in the world.

For almost 450 years, the oldest vine in the world has been growing in the old town of Maribor, old enough to receive an entry in the Guinness Book of Records in 2004.

The House of the Old Vine, a treasury with more than 200 of the most impressive vintages of Štajerska and the Museum of the Oldest Vine in the World offer visitors a comprehensive insight into the wine culture of the city and the region.

Also descend into the Vinag Wine Cellar, one of the oldest and largest traditional wine cellars on the entire continent, which extends over 15,000 m2 under the city of Maribor.

Throughout theyear, numerous events take place in the city of Maribor and its surroundings. From the ritual pruning of the vines in spring, to the top culinary event of the Long Table in the middle of the vineyards, the autumn Old Vine Festival with festive grape picking, to the popular St. Martin's Day Festival, the largest festival of its kind in Slovenia.
