Whether long weekend or a few days off, experience pure nature in Italy's smallest vacation region the AOSTATAL and let your soul dangle.

Hiking between four four-thousand-metre peaks
Situated between the four four-thousand-meter peaks Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, Matterhorn and Gran Paradiso, the Aosta Valley can be discovered in all its facets on day tours or multi-day hikes between alpine giants. Numerous trails of varying difficulty are available to hikers for tours, including in Italy's first national park "Gran Paradiso" - a mountain landscape of remarkable beauty. In autumn, one often encounters ibexes, marmots, chamois and golden eagles here. The flora of the park also seems similar to a living botanical garden - the surroundings are adorned with all kinds of flowers, grasses and forests before you encounter rocky landscapes and snow-covered glacier heights.

For those who want to walk (part of) a historic trail, the legendary pilgrimage route "Via Francigena" towards Rome is recommended. Following in the footsteps of the Romans, you will walk between ancient villages, ancient walls, early churches and other important traces of the Roman era. Hikers also climb numerous cultural assets along the Walser Trail, which introduces the curious to the Walser culture and its traditions and linguistic treasures.

Adventurous hikers with more time and practice cross the border triangle on international tours or the entire Valle d'Aosta on a circular route. The so-called "Hike of the Giants" over seven stages is like a breathtaking voyage of discovery over the highest and most popular peaks in Europe. Starting from the village center of Courmayeurs, the walk takes you past waterfalls, mountain huts, Roman sites and spectacular views until you return to the village on the last day. You can spend the night in numerous mountain huts, in villages or even in bivouacs on the peaks.

Almost every hike includes stopping at a mountain hut: the first huts were built in the Aosta Valley at the end of the 19th century to allow for a longer stay in the mountains. The huts provide hikers not only with food and lodging, but also with information, assistance and help during their tours.

The perfect opportunity also to take a well-deserved break and enjoy the delicacies of the region. Among these, for example, the Fontina, called "king of cheeses" by the inhabitants of the valley. Prosciuttificio De Bosses should also be tried. This celebrated regional product is a raw ham enhanced with mountain herbs such as juniper or thyme. Or try the Valleé d'Aoste Lard d'Arnad, the bacon is aged for at least three months and due to its unique consistency it melts in your mouth and spreads a pleasant sweet taste.
Wine lovers will also be delighted. One of the red wines specially produced in Valle d'Aosta is Vallée d'Aoste Torrette DOC, a harmonious and dry wine, the supérieur version of which is made from sun-drenched petit rouge grapes. From a purely geographical point of view, it occupies most of the production area, eleven communes of the Valle d'Aosta.

Now probably nothing stands in the way of a relaxed and panoramic hike.
