The Grand Paradiso National Park, located in northwestern Italy, belongs half to Piedmont and half to Valle d'Aosta. With an area of 70,044 hectares, the Grand Paradiso National Park extends over five valleys around the Gran Paradiso massif.

The area is 48% in Piedmont and 52% in the Aosta Valley. Characterized by very different landscapes, due to the great differences in altitude, deciduous forests grow on the lower valley floors and coniferous forests at higher altitudes. Further up, the alpine glaciers reach their peak at the 4,061 meters of the Gran Paradiso.

Fauna and flora
The Park is undoubtedly one of the Alpine areas with the richest wildlife. 9,000 chamois, almost 3,000 ibex, as well as deer, roe deer, wild boar, marmots, wolves, bearded vultures and eagles. The park is home to a total of 51 species of mammals and 101 species of birds. The animals live in complete freedom and can be observed very easily from only a few meters away. Moreover, a splendid and varied alpine flora characterized by rare plants flourishes (more than 1000 species have been counted). A nature experience of a special kind.

When is it recommended to visit the park?
Each season offers visitors a breathtaking scenery. Late spring and summer are the months of blossoms and high-altitude walks. In autumn, the forests turn colors as the chamois mating season begins. In winter, the snow-covered landscape is ideal for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing but also for alpine ski tours with the prospect of spotting wild animals in their magnificent winter dress.

The Grand Paradiso National Park is easily accessible by various means of transport.
The nearest airports are Turin and Milan Malpensa.
