750 modern snow lances stand throughout the ski area like the tin soldiers

ready for use and save one third of energy compared to conventional "cannons". This is the Katschberg contribution to the current discussion on climate change and energy efficiency.

With the modern snow lances, 100% of the entire slope area on the Katschberg can be covered with snow. And within the shortest possible time: because after only two days of mechanical snowmaking, skiers and snowboarders can make their turns on the Katschberg.

Winter vacation on the Katschberg
70 km of slopes - 10 km of which are marked black (difficult) and 10 km blue (easy) - are available for wedeling and carving on the Katschberg; true to the motto: to each guest his own track.

The Katschberg is accessible from all directions via the A10, the Tauern freeway. Simply - coming from Carinthia - exit at Rennweg, then it's another 5 km (5 minutes by car) to one of the large parking lots. The drive from Klagenfurt to the ski area takes 50 minutes. Just as long from Salzburg, by the way. Those arriving from the city of Mozart take the St. Michael exit and approach the mountain from the north side.
16 lifts on the Katschberg ensure convenient and, above all, fast transport of skiers to the summit. With the expansion of the Aineck with the recently built Silverjet 2 gondola lift, the transport capacity of Bergbahnen Katschberg was increased to 27,500 people per hour. All large lifts are designed as comfortable chairlifts or gondola lifts:

the 3-seater chairlift to the Aineck
the 4-seater chairlift Königswiesenbahn
the 6-seater chair lift to Tschaneck
the 4-seater Sonnalmwiesen lift
the 6-seater Gamskogelexpress chairlift
the 8-seater EUB Gipfelbahn
the 8-seater EUB Silverjet II

Demanding
One of the most demanding slopes on the Katschberg is the "Direttissima", which lives up to its name, has a gradient of 60 - 100 % and is called the "Carinthian Streif" by the locals not least for this reason. By Aineckbahn you get to its starting point. But if you get scared of your own courage at the top station, you can first choose the more leisurely downhill run. Then it's back to the Aineck and so warmed up should be the conquest of the "Direttissima" nothing more to stand in the way. The "Direttissima" is one of the longest "black" downhill runs in Austria with 2,500 meters. Numerous World Cup skiers who have already visited the Katschberg for training purposes also give the "Direttissima" the best testimony.
