Get to know two real specialists!

Lavender and dandelion, marigold and rosemary, yarrow and sage: Numerous native herbs thrive in South Tyrol's farm gardens. In addition, the farmers continue to cultivate their valuable knowledge about the cultivated medicinal plants and are happy to share it with their vacation guests.

Two real specialists can be found at the Oberhaslerhof in Schenna and at the Bacherhof in Nals, both in the Merano region: Priska Weger and Jutta Tappeiner organize guided tours, seminars and workshops as well as cooking courses and tastings. In doing so, the creative farm women never run out of ideas. Together with interested people, they process the green herbs into teas, salts, spice mixtures and cosmetics.

A life for herbs:
For the farmer's wife of the Oberhaslerhof in Schenna, herbs are a matter of the heart. For years Priska Weger has been tending one of the most beautiful herb gardens in South Tyrol and knows everything about the use of medicinal plants as well as their history and use in daily life. In addition to informative guided tours, she also shows guests how to make a wide variety of teas, ointments, tinctures and the production of herbal salt or pesto. Meanwhile, she has even written a book about her greatest passion. With "Kräuter nutzen leicht gemacht" readers dive deep into the world of plants and learn everything about their use for cooking, health and well-being. Info and book order at www.oberhaslerhof.com

Herbs as body, mind and soul healing:
Jutta Tappeiner of the Bacherhof in Nals is a Kneipp health trainer and herbal educator, as well as one of the many herbal specialists of the "Roter Hahn" brand. She takes care of the farm's own organic garden with dedication and offers various workshops, adventure lectures as well as wild herb tours. If you like, you can learn all about the local plants in folk medicine as well as about tradition and customs around incense in the annual cycle. She also prepares ointments, distills fragrant herbs and even brews love elixirs. Thus the expert for natural cosmetics leads guests knowledgeably through the world of plants. www.kraeutererbe.info
