Alpine Flora on the Princess Gina Trail

from Sareis via the Pfälzerhütte to Malbun

It is not surprising, the entire area through which the walk leads was already designated as a national plant protection area decades ago! The first kilometer after the Sareis mountain station is lined with ciliated alpine roses. Afterwards, bluegrass and cushion sedge meadows dominate the exposed parts of the ridge up to the Augstenberg (2359 m a.s.l.), the highest point of the hike. Only a few meters below the summit grow the heady lousewort and the Triglav pippa. Along the descent to the Pfälzerhütte, the Swiss Mannsschild forms large, spherical pads in the limestone rocks. The Pfälzerhütte itself invites you to a leisurely lunch or an aperitif before the descent with a riot of color definitely crowns the route of the Princess Gina.

Through the colorful Triesenberger Maiensässe

Route guidance: Gaflei - Silum - Rizlina

The trail between Gaflei and Rizlina crosses colorful meadows and species-rich fringe communities on the Maiensäss level. At the altitude of about 1500 m, the rusty sedge heaps and species-rich mountain fat meadows are most attractive between mid-June and mid-July. In the fringes along the path, the protected Turk's-bunch and Dark columbine bloom. Even before you see their pink blossoms, you can smell the fragrance of the magnificent carnations. The wonderful view of the Rhine valley and the opposite side of the valley with Werdenberg accompanies the hikers over long stretches of the trail.

Nature experience Ruggeller Riet

The Ruggeller Riet forms - together with the Bangser Riet in the neighboring Vorarlberg - a magnificent peat landscape. In May the blue blossoms of the Siberian iris shine and rare birds nest in the reeds and groves. Here you can forget everyday life, give yourself completely to nature.
