The capital of South Tyrol lives up to its synonym as a city of encounters also in the winter months.

The absolute highlight is, of course, the Christmas market in Bolzano, which from the last weekend in November until January 6 gives the whole city a wonderful homey atmosphere. Discover old South Tyrolean Advent traditions and South Tyrolean customs that accompany the four-week wait for Christmas. In the approximately 90 decorated huts you will find a rich selection of handmade Christmas decorations, traditional handicraft products such as the "Patschen", slippers made of loden, decorated candles, hand-decorated Christmas tree baubles, traditional Christmas baking products.

All snow lovers, on the other hand, can reach numerous winter sports areas in a short time from Bolzano: Ritten, Obereggen, Sarntal, Seiser Alm, Jenesien.... Whether skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, tobogganing or simply walking through the snow-covered landscape, in just 30-50 minutes you are in the middle of winter paradise. Bolzano is the perfect starting point for this. In the evening you can end the day in the restaurants of the old town with typical South Tyrolean or Mediterranean dishes.

And that's not all! The provincial capital also offers an extensive program for all culture lovers during the winter months. The Tourist Office of Bolzano offers guided tours of the city, the exhibitions in the museums of Bolzano tell in an exciting way the different aspects of the history of Bolzano: the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology with the glacier mummy Ötzi, the South Tyrolean Museum of Nature documents the fascinating history of the formation of the Dolomites, the Mercantile Museum, on the other hand, the history as a trading city, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art shows works of local and international artists.

But theater lovers will not miss out either! The Municipal Theater of Bolzano awaits with an exciting schedule of international dance companies, opera performances and theater shows.
