The air is clear, the sky lightning blue. Wintertime in the Chiemsee-Alpenland!

Skiing in the Kampenwand ski area or on Germany's longest floodlit slope on Hocheck, Sudelfeld with Actionwelt and the high alpine Wendelstein...

Winter offers a lot in the Chiemsee-Alpenland: from leisurely to sporty, from the valley to the mountain. Well-maintained winter hiking trails and groomed cross-country ski trails criss-cross the lake and mountain landscape of the Upper Bavarian region south of Munich.

The most beautiful toboggan runs
The unspoiled, tranquil nature can be enjoyed on a snowshoe or ski tour. Toboggan runs in the mountains often invite you to enjoy a speedy descent. One of the longest natural toboggan runs in Germany leads from the Brünnsteinhaus over a distance of 5.2 kilometers to Oberaudorf in the valley. The Hocheck ski area is home to Germany's only TÜV-certified toboggan run with floodlights, which was rated "very good" in the ADAC test. A very challenging toboggan run leads from the Hohe Asten in Flintsbach down into the valley.

Ski resorts and cross-country skiing
The most popular regions for cross-country skiing are the Samerberg plateau, the mountaineering village of Sachrang with floodlit trails and the Inntal valley near Oberaudorf due to the relatively high snow guarantee. Four ski areas are located in the middle of the region: skiing in the family-friendly Hocheck with Germany's longest floodlit slope, wonderful skiing on the Wendelstein with its high alpine runs, the natural snow ski area on the Kampenwand and the extensive Sudelfeld promise an unforgettable day's skiing for the whole family. The current snow depths and the condition of the cross-country ski trails can be found on the "Snow Report" website.

The Christmas markets in the region invite you to a contemplative hustle and bustle. Many delicacies from the region, homemade gifts and traditional crafts can be admired and sampled there.

There are also special winter magic experience offers for the quiet time:

If you are looking for a stop at a mountain hut in winter or even alpine pastures and mountain inns that are open all year round, you are in for a treat.

Whether culinary, sporty or creative - book your personal winter break!

A special excursion destination in winter is Herrenchiemsee Castle. King Ludwig II's fairytale castle lies enchanted in the middle of Herreninsel. The island can be reached all year round by boat on Lake Chiemsee .

The Chiemgau thermal spas in Bad Endorf and Bad Aibling invite you to relax and warm up.
