Mountains, alpine pastures, lakes and forests, picture-perfect villages and towns with a southern lifestyle make you want to go on vacation in Germany.

The Chiemsee-Alpenland region extends in the south of Germany between Munich and Salzburg. It is one of Germany's most popular vacation regions for active vacationers, families, culture lovers, those seeking relaxation and connoisseurs.

Magnificent views invite you to linger high up in the mountains. Ambitious mountaineers will find around 50 peaks to climb. For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, there are around 60 mountain huts to stop off at. The trails are well signposted and range from easy, gentle tours in the valleys to more challenging tours in the Bavarian Alps. The most striking peaks include the Wendelstein, the Kampenwand, the Hochries, the Brünnstein and the Geigelstein. A large number of mountain lifts make the ascent easier and enable families and senior citizens, among others, to enjoy breathtaking views and summit experiences. The cycle path network in the Chiemsee-Alpenland offers cyclists short circular routes or day-long tours to explore the Alpine foothills around Lake Chiemsee and in the Inn and Mangfall valleys. The long-distance cycle paths Bodensee-Königssee Radweg and Innradweg cross the region.

In the Chiemsee-Alpenlandtour portal, tours can be filtered by location, duration, difficulty and type of sport, so there is something for everyone.

The two Inn towns of Rosenheim and Wasserburg invite you to stroll and enjoy the typical Inn-Salzach architecture. There are annually changing exhibitions in the Lokschuppen Rosenheim, for example. Especially in summer, traditional and cultural festivals and customs are celebrated in the region.

Thebiggest attraction in summer is Lake Chiemsee with its numerous bathing spots and famous islands: The Herreninsel with King Ludwig II's fairytale castle and the Fraueninsel with the Frauenwörth monastery can be reached by Chiemsee boat all year round. There are also numerous bathing spots and lakes to cool off in the moraine landscape shaped by the Ice Age. The many inns and restaurants in the towns and villages offer regional dishes and products, so all gourmets get their money's worth.
