Outstanding natural snow slopes, impressive panoramas and a real snow guarantee.
All five glaciers offer pure skiing fun from September to June! In Hintertux you can even ski all year round. Those who ski at over 3,000 meters quickly realize: higher is simply better...
YOUNG STAR
The Kaunertal Glacier (1,273 - 3,108 meters) doesn't owe its nickname "Tyrol's youngest glacier" to its age, but to the crowd that storms the slopes with enthusiasm as early as the end of September. This is where the freeski and snowboard scene meets in the Kaunertal Snowpark. And what would a "young" ski resort be without a proper launch party? Every year in October, the legendary Kaunertal Opening takes place, scoring points with young people with contests, parties and a gigantic festival. Those looking for peace, relaxation and a break from the stresses of everyday life can admire the white giants of the border triangle of Austria, Italy and Switzerland from the viewing platform at the Karlesjochbahn at 3108 meters and really unwind.
THE GENTLE GIANT
The Pitztal Glacier (1,680 - 3,440 meters) is unsurpassed in size in the whole of Tyrol. And with the highest cable car in Austria, the ski area also impresses in terms of infrastructure. At 3,440 meters, 50 surrounding peaks of the imposing three-thousand-metre peaks can be admired from the panoramic cable car - deep below the skiers, the 85-hectare ski area spreads out with 68 perfectly groomed kilometers of pistes. And those looking for less thrills and dizzying challenges can sweeten their time with physical activity in the newly built cross-country skiing center at 2,690 meters. You can train for the still young season on seven kilometers of pistes on the glacier trail, and the cross-country opening in November provides the necessary motivation. The still young season is then welcomed in style at the highest glacier festival in October.
WHERE THE GLACIER SEETHES
Whether party or state-of-the-art architecture - the glacier in Sölden (1,350 - 3,340 meters) offers everyone an enormous variety of leisure activities. The Gaislachkoglbahn with its three stations transports a total of 5,000 people within an hour and ensures maximum comfort with escalators and lifts.
The 10-seater Rotkogl gondola lift from the hotel village of Hochsölden to the Giggijochbahn mountain station makes it easy to connect the ski-in/ski-out resort to the glacier ski areas on Tiefenbach and Rettenbachferner. Here you can ski down three three-thousand-meter peaks in one day via the BIG3 Ralley: Schwarze Schneid (3,340 m), Tiefenbachkogl (3,250 m) and Gaislachkogl (3,058 m). If you ski them all, you will have covered 50 kilometers and a total of over 5,200 vertical meters by the end of the day. The glacier pistes in Sölden are open from September to May.
THE FAMILY FRIEND
Once again, the Stubai Glacier (1,000 - 3,210 meters) has been named the most family-friendly ski resort in the Alps by the ADAC SkiGuide. Austria's largest glacier ski area with a total area of 700 hectares and 110 kilometers of slopes impresses with its loving childcare, such as the "BIG Family Ski Camp" and ensures that the little ski stars are happy and their parents can relax with a kindergarten and their own children's restaurant. In addition to the Stubai Glacier, the Kaunertal and Pitztal Glaciers also give the little ones a big present: children up to the age of 10 ski for free when accompanied by an adult. The season is welcomed to the Stubai Glacier in blue and white: "O'zapft is" is always the motto in October at the Oktoberfest at 2,900 meters. In November, the SportScheck GlacierTestival attracts visitors with the largest equipment check in the Alps: over 3600 winter sports articles are presented.
WINTER FUN ALL YEAR ROUND
The Hintertux Glacier (1,500 - 3,250 meters) is a special feature among the 5 big ones. Even when the summer sun is still smiling down on us in the valley, people are already hard at work here. Austria's only year-round ski area offers a 100% snow guarantee on 18 kilometers of pistes. In the winter months, winter sports enthusiasts can also enjoy 86 km of natural snow slopes. In addition to the guaranteed snow, freestylers and boarders also appreciate the "Hotzone.tv Park Opening", which celebrates the start of winter. And it's not just the 365 days of skiing fun a year that speak for themselves - if you're longing for more adventure, take the opportunity to make an exhilarating detour to the "Nature's Ice Palace" walk-in crevasse. A magical journey to the center of the earth.
