5 picturesque villages, the crystal clear Achensee and the impressive mountains of the Karwendel and Rofan await sporty-active vacationers as well as connoisseurs.

Hiking, mountain biking, golfing or water sports: the recreational and leisure activities around Tyrol's largest lake offer the right vacation experience for everyone. Impressive figures illustrate the diversity: 500 km of well-maintained and marked hiking trails from gently flat to tours at 2,500 m lead through the region's fantastic natural landscape. Among other things, into the largest protected area in the Northern Alps, the "Alpenpark Karwendel". If you want to go even "higher", you are in good hands in the climbing areas or climbing gardens and climbing routes. The absolute highlight of the region is Austria's only 5-summit via ferrata.

As a perfect sailing and surfing area in the heart of the Alps, Lake Achensee has long since made a name for itself: over a length of 9 km, the lake offers ideal wind conditions for sailors, surfers, kite surfers and, quite recently, "stand up paddle boarders". But also for the ships of the Achensee shipping, the pedal boats and rowboats, the divers, anglers and of course all sun-hungry bathers the lake offers enough space. The paragliders' umbrellas, which also feel particularly at home at Lake Achensee, provide the colorful splashes of color in the bright blue summer sky. With over 250 km of signposted and approved bike and mountain bike routes, the Achensee region is one of the most popular biking destinations in Tyrol. Family bike tours around the lake are just as much a part of the offer as challenging and action-packed mountain bike routes at all levels of difficulty.

Running and Nordic walking enthusiasts also get their money's worth at Lake Achensee: with over 180 km of designated running routes and 23 signposted routes, some of which can also be combined, at all levels of difficulty, Tyrol's Sport & Vitalpark offers ambitious beginners and amateur athletes an ideal starting point for running and walking. In addition, the region is home to the Achensee Run, which is being held for the 13th time this year and is the most beautiful panoramic run in the Alps.
