The Rofan and Karwendel mountains offer numerous ski touring opportunities: from short and easy to challenging, steep climbs.

Completely alone, surrounded by the silence of the winter mountain world, you climb up with your skis and discover places that you can otherwise only admire in summer. Ski tours open up a completely different view of the winter world at Achensee. The natural movement surrounded by complete silence is the central element of this sport, as well as endless deep snow descents.

To increase safety in the terrain, avalanche transceiver checkpoints (LVS = avalanche transceiver ) have been set up at five ski tour starting points. The ski touring educational trail in Maurach informs by means of seven stations not only about the handling of avalanche transceivers and probes, but also about correct behavior in alpine terrain and towards nature in hibernation. Because only those who adhere to the safety regulations and observe the laws of nature will return safely to their starting point.

Well equipped, you can then head out into the open countryside. Many of the most popular tours, such as the one to the Rofanspitze, start directly in the ski area. The red route leads from the top station of the Rofan cable car first over the slope, then over stepped terrain past the Gruberscharte to the summit (2,259 m, 500 Hm ascent, 3.5 kilometers).

The Rofan mountain range with its moderate slopes and descents is especially ideal for beginners. A recommended route for beginners leads to the Seekarlspitze (2261 m) in two hours and just under three kilometers. The blue tour also starts at the mountain station and first goes over the slope, then it goes up the Haidachstellwand and further over the wide ridge ridge and in several hairpin bends to the summit cross.

But there are also plenty of tours where you can enjoy the silence of the winter mountain world. In the process, ski tourers discover places that offer a completely different view of the winter world at Achensee. For example, the Vorderunnutz (2,078 m) - if you stand here at the summit, Lake Achensee is practically at your feet. The scenic tour, which involves over 1,000 meters of elevation gain, starts in Steinberg at the edge of the tranquil ski slope. Tourers quickly leave this behind and then enjoy the peace and beautiful views. Also a panoramic view of the special class on the Tyrolean Sea, but from the other side, offers the Bärenkopf (1,991 m). From Pertisau, the route follows the Perchertal ski slope to the Bärenbadalm (1,457 m) and then over the western shoulder to the main summit.

Even though many tours start at the ski resorts, they are not piste tours, but you are in the open alpine terrain. Enjoy the nature and always pay attention to your safety!
