Gaze from the "balcony of Lake Maggiore", taste hot chestnuts in Ticino and follow the eerily beautiful moorland trail in Obwalden.

The golden autumn enchants with its magical colors and warm light. It is the season of culinary specialties and traditional festivals - but also the best time to experience nature even more intensively.

Ronco sopra Ascona (Ticino)
The municipality of Ronco sopra Ascona is located between Ascona and Brissago on a rocky terrace above Lake Maggiore. Not without reason Ronco sopra Ascona is also called "The balcony above Lake Maggiore". The village is famous for the immense and impressive view that can be enjoyed over the lake, the Brissago islands and the surrounding mountains. Despite the population growth, the village center has managed to preserve its original rustic charm with narrow streets, stone staircases and typical arcades between the houses. Hikers can explore the Mediterranean hills and mountains from Ronco. With every step uphill towards 'Corono dei Pinci' or the mountain hut 'da Legn', where it is also possible to spend the night, the panoramic view expands.

Hiking the chestnut path (Ticino)
The gnarled chestnut path of the Alto Malcantone runs for 15 kilometers through the villages of Arosio, Mugena, Vezio and Fescoggia. It goes through chestnut groves and birch woods, the view over the stone roofs of the villages reaches Monte Rosa. In Mugena, much revolves around the chestnut. The small village in Malcantone, the hilly hinterland of Lugano, benefits not only from a lot of views but also from a very mild climate thanks to its location on the southern slope of Monte Gradiccioli. No wonder, chestnut trees were already introduced here in Roman times.

Watching animals in the Swiss National Park (Graubünden)
In Val Trupchun it gets loud and colorful in autumn: in the Swiss National Park red deer, ibex, chamois and marmots live in the wild. With a little luck, bearded vultures and golden eagles can also be admired. During the rutting season, around 500 red deer sound the valley - acoustically alone, this is a very special experience. Guests are accompanied on a four to eight hour tour and observe the animals through a telescope.

Moor path with peat basin (Lucerne-Lake Lucerne)
Around the Glaubenberg, between Entlebuch and the lakes of Lunger and Sarnen, lies the largest moor landscape in Switzerland. This landscape is rich in species and is also home to the endangered capercaillie, which feels right at home here. As a sluggish flyer, it avoids dense forests and appreciates areas where it can flee on foot in case of danger. On the nearly six-kilometer-long Moorbäerpfad, hikers can get to know this type of landscape and learn more about its special features at 20 information stations. In the ankle-deep peat basin near the Schwendi cold bath, the curious can experience the raised bog up close and personal in the truest sense of the word.
