The Kufsteinerland, at the gateway to the Alps, stands for soothing winter freshness. Unique winter experiences await you during winter hiking, on snowshoe tours or wide turns on the ski slope...

Big ski circus and idyllic winter landscapes
Winter sports are available in Kufsteinerland at almost every corner and in all categories. Skiers enjoy the proximity to Ski Welt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, whose lifts are only a few kilometers away. And which, with 284 kilometers of slopes, is one of the largest areas in Austria. Especially practical: the ski bus takes guests to the lifts free of charge. Small and manageable, but no less attractive for that, are the family-oriented lifts in Vorder- and Hinterthiersee, which are ideal for families, returning skiers and pleasure skiers who are less interested in kilometers of piste and meters of altitude than in the real skiing experience. Or would you prefer quiet and natural?

How about one of the numerous cross-country ski trails. Almost every one of the eight villages in Kufsteinerland offers groomed cross-country trails. Particularly snow-sure cross-country trails in higher-lying areas such as Bad Häring, Thiersee and the cross-country training center in Schwoich are inviting. Kufsteinerland has also been popular for years for its excellent ski tours.

A route leads directly from Kufstein up to the Kaisergebirge. Popular areas for this are Ackern in the Thiersee area and the Spitzstein not far from Niederndorf. Guided ski tours are offered by the Thiersee ski school. The Kaisertal valley is also a hiking classic in winter. The Thiersee area with the popular Kala Alm presents itself with idyllic routes and magnificent views. And those who don't want to go all the way up will be happy on the panoramic trail around the spa town of Bad Häring.

Nostalgic winter experiences with toboggan and snowshoes
An absolute classic are the toboggan runs around Kufstein. These include the toboggan runs near the town from the Aschenbrennerhaus, from the Aschingeralm on the Buchberg east of Ebbs, the Kala Alm in Thiersee and the Mariandlalm between Thiersee and Bayrischzell, which offers a special kind of tobogganing: clumping, i.e. tobogganing on a skid. In total, there are a good dozen toboggan runs in Kufsteinerland, each of which also offers cozy stops at a hut or mountain inn. For those who want to rent a toboggan, the Kala Alm or the Aschenbrenner mountain inn are recommended. Winter romance of the decelerating kind can be found on snowshoe hikes. Guided tours are offered in Ebbs, Erl and at Thiersee. Especially atmospheric are the evening hikes in Hinterthiersee under the motto "On the trail of the sandman".

Family-friendly | Small, fine ski slopes away from the hustle and bustle
Ideal for children and beginners are the gentle slopes in Thiersee, in Bad Häring and Schwoich with their drag lifts. Lots of skiing fun at reasonable prices, so that the family budget is not too much burdened. The alternative to tranquil winter sports is offered by Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental, which is only a few kilometers away from Kufstein.

Winter sports guaranteed stress-free. Boundless cross-country skiing excursions
Cross-country skiing is celebrating a renaissance and also has many advantages: You move harmoniously in nature, you are alone, you can freely determine your pace, you do something for your endurance and protect your joints. Cross-country skiers get their money's worth in Kufsteinerland, the extensive network of trails is spread throughout the entire region. Particularly snow-sure are the cross-country trails near Thiersee as well as near Bad Häring and Schwoich, where there is also a snow-covered trail. Exceptionally attractive - and like all cross-country ski trails in Kufsteinerland accessible by public transport - is the cross-country ski trail connection from Ursprungtal in the far west of Kufsteinerland across the border to Bavaria in the direction of Bayrischzell.
