An easy long-distance hiking trail leads hikers in six to eight daily stages

through one of the last wild river landscapes in Europe and connects three regions and two countries with their traditions and histories. Vacationers can experience all the highlights of the 125-kilometer Lech Trail - from the source in Lech to the Lech Falls in Füssen - from Warth-Schröcken on the Arlberg without having to transport any cumbersome luggage.

It is one of the most beautiful and pristine landscapes in the Alps: the region from the Arlberg area of Lech to Warth via the Tyrolean Lechtal Nature Park to the southern Allgäu is characterized by the wild river Lech. With its branching river course and the extensive adjacent floodplain landscapes, the river area is one of the last refuges for many plant and animal species. This is where the new cross-border long-distance hiking trail "Lechweg" runs - for 125 kilometers from its source near the Formarinsee lake in Vorarlberg to the Lech Falls in Füssen in the Allgäu region. Those who do not want to hike the entire distance of the Lechweg can set up base in Warth-Schröcken and explore the tourist highlights and stages on varied day trips. The new "Lechweg" the vacationers, for example, to the largest ibex colony in Europe, to the white water swimming near Warth or in the beautifully located forest swimming pool in the Zugertal near Lech.

All Lechweg highlights from Warth-Schröcken
From Warth, all stages of the Lechweg can be hiked comfortably. For example, the Lechweg stage to Steeg starts on the doorstep. The trail runs from Warth to Gehren and Lechleiten, past the Schrofenwies climbing garden and on along the picturesque Panorama Trail to Steeg. At the Sojer natural cheese dairy, Lechtal cheese specialties made according to age-old recipes invite you to refresh yourself.

For other tours, such as the Lechweg stage "Holzgau-Elbigenalp", vacationers first travel a short distance by bus or car. In Holzgau, the Lechweg leads over the longest and probably most spectacular pedestrian suspension bridge in Austria. 200.5 meters long and 110 meters high, it crosses the Höhenbach Gorge. As a vertigo-free alternative, the hike into the Höhenbach valley is a good choice. Past the Simmswasserfall, the trail leads partly on wooden footpaths through the district of Schigge to Bach. Guests hike directly along the banks of the Lech to Elbigenalp, the birthplace of the legendary "Geierwally" Anna Stainer-Knittel and a stronghold of carving art.
