With over 40 ski areas, first-class groomed slopes and a fantastic mountain panorama

the No.1 Swiss vacation region for ski and snowboard fans creates a triad for perfect winter vacations in the Swiss Alps.

"Sure, I ski a little faster than most. But in Graubünden, that doesn't make me special. Kids grow up here with skis on their feet," says Carlo Janka, Vancouver 2010 Olympic champion and winner of the overall World Cup in the 09/10 season. Janka first picked up his speed in Obersaxen, a family-friendly ski resort in the Vorderrheintal. Later, he could be found on the slopes of Laax, which is one of the largest ski resorts in Graubünden with high alpine and long runs. Among these is also Lenzerheide with challenging and versatile slopes. Of course, there are also plenty of small, family-oriented areas like the manageable Heinzenberg or Savognin, where children can easily go off on their own.

And then there are the many snow parks as well as the new Indoor Freestyle Academy in Laax, where snowboarders can show off their speed and skill. If that's not spectacular enough for you, you can try a downhill run in powder snow, or - on a completely different note - the bobsled run in St. Moritz. On the world's only track made of natural ice, ordinary guests can join an experienced pilot in the bobsled and get 75 seconds of thrills.

Mostly untouched fresh is the world of cross-country skiers.
Some travel at a leisurely slow pace, taking in the magnificent scenery. Others emulate the Münstertal World Cup winner Dario Cologna The two worlds of running do not get in each other's way. With a cross-country ski trail network with a total length of 1800 kilometers, there is plenty of room to overtake in Graubünden. And for relaxed overtaking. Winter in Graubünden is also a time for cultivated slowness.

On the well-kept winter hiking trails, on snowshoe hikes or on ski tours, but also in the wellness oases, including the Therme Vals by the Graubünden world architect Peter Zumthor or the Tschuggen mountain oasis near Arosa. Things are also particularly slow at the Schatzalp in Davos, where the 111-year-old sanatorium on the 'Zauberberg' has been converted into a place of deceleration. Here, two lifts leisurely pull skiers uphill. They quickly notice how the tensions of everyday life fall away from them and into the snow - "patschifig" is what we Graubünden call this state of comprehensive well-being.

Ski area connection Arosa-Lenzerheide
2 ski areas = 1 winter paradise with 225 kilometers of slopes. Arosa-Lenzerheide is thus one of the largest connected ski areas in the canton.

Snowtubing in Maloja
Two children's lifts are now in operation in Maloja in the Bergell, coupled with the latest offer on the market, "snowtubing". The little ones sit down in a rubber ring and whiz down the specially prepared slopes. Happy children's screaming is guaranteed!
