Dreamlike snow experiences. The Villanderer Alm near Klausen in the southern Eisacktaler Dolomites promises Dolomite panorama.

Above Klausen, Barbian, Feldthurns and Villanders in the southern Eisacktal Dolomites lie the most extensive high alpine pastures in South Tyrol. The Villanders alpine pasture is even the second largest in all of Europe and is considered the geographical center of South Tyrol. It opens up a fascinating natural area between 1,700 and 2,500 meters above sea level for winter and snowshoe hikers - and an incredible panoramic view of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Dolomites.

With snowshoes, cross-country skis and touring skis

On the Villanderer Alm, everyone who wants to experience winter away from the slopes has a rich field of activities. A wildly romantic winter hike runs from the Villanderer Alm to the Rittner Horn. At the Gasserhütte, where you can park your car, there is also a beautiful cross-country trail of medium difficulty that leads across the alpine plateau, past wonderful viewing spots and alpine huts. Tourers appreciate the large radius over three alpine pastures and up to the 2,500 meter high Villanderer Berg.

Guided tours and camps
Every Monday in winter, a guided snowshoe hike is organized on the Villanderer Alm (current dates coming soon here). A tip for winter adventurers is the bivouac camp (05.01. to 27.01.2019), which is offered every year in January by certified ski and mountain guides, with guided snow shoe tours and overnight stays in bivouac tents. On the Villanderer Alm there are countless possibilities for refreshments: the best awarded alpine huts can be found here. The Villanderer Alm is easily accessible via the A22, exit Sankt Valentin in Klausen. From here it is only 14 kilometers to the Gasserhütte.
