In the Allgäu mountains, winter lasts a long time, but then comes spring with its full color splendor.

At the "Hündle" in Oberstaufen, the mountain meadows turn into a carpet of flowers covering more than 20 hectares after the snow melts in April. White, blue and purple wild crocuses then form a sea of blossoms for a few days.

The spring spectacle attracts thousands of visitors to the Hochsiedelalpe every year. It can be easily reached from the mountain station of the Hündlebahn in just under 30 minutes, even with strollers. More athletic hikers incorporate the crocus blossom into a circular walk from the valley station. The Hochsiedelrunde, which is just under ten kilometers long, leads uphill through forests and sparse meadows. The hikers can see the white peaks of the Nagelfluh chain, the yellow dandelions and the first wild crocuses at their feet - and at the Hochsiedelalpe they are then faced with the first green of the mountain meadows in front of a glowing sea of blossoms!
