From September 21 to October 6, the largest folk festival in the world takes place on the Theresienwiese. At the 189th Oktoberfest this year can be celebrated for a whole 18 days.

The festival area
The festival grounds cover an area of 34.5 hectares. For Oktoberfest 2023, 898 businesses applied. 474 businesses were admitted this year, including 140 from the gastronomy sector, 138 showmen's businesses, 196 market traders and several service businesses. There will be 39 businesses at the Oidn Wiesn, including 14 catering businesses, 23 carny businesses and two market traders.

The Wiesn offer festival beer and culinary delights
In the 17 festival halls with a total of around 120,000 seats, the special Oktoberfest beers of the six traditional Munich breweries Augustiner, Hacker-Pschorr, Löwenbräu, Paulaner, Spaten and Staatliches Hofbräuhaus with an original gravity of around 13 percent will be served. In addition, there is a wide range of food, from classic to vegan. A total of 39 medium-sized and large gastronomic establishments invite visitors to celebrate. The price of a pint of festival beer varies between 12.60 and 14.90 euros. The average prices of non-alcoholic beverages per liter are 10.04 euros for table water, 11.65 euros for Spezi and 11.17 euros for lemonade.

New at the Wiesn 2024
The Oktoberfest changes every year. Even if there are no new marquees or landlords this year, a lot has changed. For example, for the first time there will be online portals of the innkeepers, where unused reservations will be exchanged or sold at the original price. An important step to push back the gray market, where often thousands of euros were demanded for a table. Already 20 gastronomic middle and large enterprises decided for the portal Oktoberfest-Booking.com as solution.

Of the table is with the oktoberfest 2023 also the menu obligation when reserving a table in the festival halls. The decision on a reservation allocation may no longer depend on the selection of a menu. The minimum consumption in the main aisles of the tents is usually two masses of beer and half a roast chicken. In the boxes and galleries, a consumption voucher of 15 euros is added. There are special rules for the Käfer-Wiesn-Schänke and the wine tent.

Wiesn for families
A good opportunity for a Wiesn stroll are the two family days that take place on the first two Tuesdays. Here there are reduced ticket, admission and sales prices.
