Colorful summer meadows in front of snow-capped peaks, crystal-clear streams and deep blue lakes, in between splendid farms and small villages with striking onion domes,

towering into the white-blue sky: The Tölzer Land, which begins south of Munich on Lake Starnberg and extends to the Tyrolean border, captivates with its genuine Bavarian picture-book idyll.

No wonder that film and television productions have long since discovered the Tölzer Land for themselves. The Wickie films from Walchensee, Ottfried Fischer, who investigated for years as "Bulle von Tölz" or the new crime duo Hubert & Staller, who hunt criminals on ARD's early evening program: the spectrum is broad. Vacationers can follow in the footsteps of films in the Tölzer Land region - or simply enjoy the scenery. The view from the Herzogstand, the favorite mountain of Bavaria's fairy-tale king Ludwig II, which can be reached in a relaxed manner by cable car, is particularly gigantic. Perhaps stop at the top, eat a delicious Kaiserschmarrn and end the day with a rowing trip across Lake Walchen?

Special tip: A cycling tour with an electric bike. With gentle motor support, climbs become child's play and even higher alpine pastures can be reached in no time. There are rental stations in many places in the Tölzer Land and the battery is simply replaced when it is empty. If you really want to get away from it all, you can stay at one of the idyllic farms, which present country life at its best. Specially trained vitality farmers help tired city dwellers get back on their feet with whey baths, teas and tinctures, and invite them to gather herbs and take part in cooking courses.

About the Tölzer Land
Tölzer Land stretches south from Munich to the Tyrolean border. Lake Starnberg in the west, Lake Kochel and Lake Walchen in the south and the Sylvenstein reservoir in the east offer numerous recreational opportunities - as do the Isar and Loisach rivers, which meander as blue ribbons through the picture-book landscape. The highest peak is the Schafreuter (2101 m). Mountain railroads also lead in summer to the Herzogstand (1731 m) at Walchensee, to the Brauneck (1555 m) in Lenggries and to the Blomberg (1248 m), the home mountain of Bad Tölz.
