Two ultra-modern gondola lifts connect the Nova with the Hochjoch

This makes Silvretta Montafon the largest ski area in Vorarlberg. With 155 kilometers of varied slopes, an incomparable variety as well as the impressive mountain scenery, the Silvretta Montafon thus ranks among the top ten in Austria.

This improvement and spectacular expansion in the Silvretta Montafon is made possible by the construction of the Grasjoch and Hochalpila lifts, which connect St. Gallenkirch with the Hochalpila mountain station at an altitude of 2,430 meters in the Hochjoch area. From St. Gallenkirch, the Grasjoch lift runs up to the Grasjoch Hut at 1,976 meters along a route length of 3,965 meters and with a difference in altitude of 1,160 meters. There, skiers change to the Hochalpila lift, which runs for 1,365 meters to the Alpila ridge, making it the highest point in the entire ski area. The entire ride on both sections takes about 16 minutes.

Alone on the slopes at sunrise
With the first rays of the sun, we go up, at the top the guides are waiting with warm tea and some warm-up exercises, then we start downhill on the virgin and perfectly groomed slope. Skiing as you could not dream of better. It's no wonder that the HochjochTotale now has cult status. In Montafon, many fantastic mountain experiences prove how versatile and fascinating winter sports can be. Because the HochjochTotale has more and more fans, the Nova Exclusive is now also offered. Every Friday, you take the Versettlabahn up to the ski area from Gaschurn early in the morning and enjoy empty powder runs. Afterwards there is a breakfast buffet in the mountain restaurant for refreshment.

Children and adults go on a ski safari
The Montafon offers much more than exclusive downhill runs and spectacular nature experiences. Youngsters will be delighted about this, for example, during the children's ski safari at Golm. Once a week, the kids go on an adventure tour through the deep snow with the ski instructor, learn exciting stories, have to solve puzzles along the way and have a barbecue party. The Silvretta ski safari awaits the parents. This starts in Partenen and goes up to the Silvretta Bielerhöhe with the Vermuntbahn and the tunnel bus. From there it's downhill on skis to Galtür and after a few descents a Pistenbully pulls guests up to the Zeinisjoch, where the final descent back to Partenen awaits.

The snowshoe tour at Bartholomaeberg leads through magnificent winter scenery, starting at the picturesque baroque church. The hike leads to the historic mine. After a Brettljause (snack), the descent into the underground world of the mountain tunnel takes place, where the guide tells exciting stories from the time of mining. There are about 290 km of snowshoe trails and winter hiking trails in the Montafon. In addition, more than 100 km of cross-country ski trails. Enough opportunities, therefore, to make friends with this wonderful winter landscape in a stress-free and healthy way.
