"There is no more social winter experience".

Multiple world champion Markus Prock doesn't let anything get in the way of "his" sport. Of course, the Stubaitaler once raced through the ice channel to his titles. Like all locals, Prock started as a child on the Stubai natural luge tracks, of course. "That's rallying, artificial track is Formula 1," compares Prock, who as a family man has long since returned to the popular tobogganing variant. The possibilities at home are almost endless. In terms of kilometers, the toboggan runs far exceed a marathon distance, and the total difference in altitude almost reaches Mount Everest dimensions.

Passionate tobogganists could spend their winter vacation on two runners. Hike up for two or three hours, then slide down into the valley. Over to the next toboggan run - and on goes the wild chase. A week is secured with eleven toboggan runs, whereby on Thursdays at night additionally the ski run from the Schlicker Alm is exclusively available to tobogganers.

Admittedly, this form of winter vacation is even with this offer abundance a minority program. To roar with the sledge into the valley remains predominantly a refreshing extra. Maybe once during the day, when the sun is not shining from the sky as expected. But preferably in the evening, provided that the slopes of the Stubai Valley have still left some energy for fresh air activities. Among locals, the classic nighttime tobogganing is, of course, New Year's Eve. Where else can the "Gute Rutsch!" into the New Year be celebrated so authentically.

For those who are not content with the one-time experience, the full moon used to lure them to "moonlight tobogganing" every month. Nowadays, however, the toboggans could be used every evening. More than half of the tracks are floodlit at least several times a week.

Varied, not too long toboggan runs with beautiful walks await away from the developed ski regions. Thus, for many guests, the Obernberg Valley would probably remain completely unknown without a tobogganing excursion. And that would be a serious mistake. With Auffangalm and Brandstattalm optimally prepared, not too steep routes await the sled runners.

Anyone can toboggan
The beauty of tobogganing is: the technical hurdles are not too high. Everyone can get down to the valley on one of the sturdy, often metal-reinforced rental toboggans. Nevertheless, the world champion warns not to underestimate the sporty side. A mulled wine, Jagatee or Obstler already belongs on the huts. But to get drunk first and then fill up the toboggan can be painful. Who is clever, takes from the ski equipment helmet and goggles for tobogganing. "You also need shoes with which you can brake well," preaches Prock. If you then have "a bit of a clue" about the technique, tobogganing becomes a great pleasure.
