The picturesque Pitztal valley with its four villages Arzl, Wenns, Jerzens and St. Leonhard lies

in a southern side valley of the Tyrolean Inntal. At the end of the 40 km long valley, which is lined by 40 waterfalls, sits the Pitztal Glacier with the highest cable car in Austria. In summer, hikers and mountain climbers will find 380 kilometers of trails in three different hiking areas - Hochzeiger, Rifflsee and Pitztaler Gletscher - offering countless opportunities for a sporty and varied summer vacation.

Exciting encounters with an ibex, the heraldic animal of the Pitztalers, are quite possible, because the Pitztal is home to the largest population of ibex in the Alps. While the little ones explore the Alps with Pitzi's Kids Club, adults discover their very own piece of untouched mountain world on countless hiking routes, in managed alpine pastures and mountain huts or in the Kaunergrat Nature Park. Various difficult via ferratas and climbing routes make the Pitztal a dream destination for rock climbers and adrenaline junkies. The latter experience their kick while rafting, mountain biking on the 42 kilometer long "Pitztal Bike" trail through the entire valley, canyoning, paragliding or bungy jumping.

Family-friendly hiking area Hochzeiger
On the Hochzeiger, 100 km of hiking trails in various degrees of difficulty, an extremely high Swiss stone pine population and impressive views await you. On an easy family hike to the Sechszeiger summit cross at 2,395 m - which hikers who are tired of walking can also shorten with the gondola lift and the Sechszeiger chairlift - the summit strikers are rewarded with a magnificent distant view of the surrounding mountain world all the way to the Zugspitze. The best: Children up to six years have in the Pitztaler Hochzeiger hiking area with all mountain railroads in the truest sense of the word always "free journey". Children from six to nine receive a "Bambini free pass" if one parent buys a lift ticket.

Pitztal Glacier - Summer cooling in the eternal ice
If you want to go high up, the Pitztal Glacier Lift will take you to the highest point in Austria, 3,440 meters above sea level, which is accessible by cable car.
