Triglav House

Triglav is Slovenia's highest peak in the Julian Alps and is of symbolic importance to Slovenians. That is why it is visited in large numbers, especially in summer and early autumn. Numerous hikers meet at the Triglav House (sl. Triglavski dom na Kredarici), the highest mountain hut in Slovenia and the most visited hut in the Triglav mountain range. Since its opening in 1896, the Triglav House has been considered a landmark of Slovenian heritage. It is open all year round and also offers accommodation. Despite the high altitude, you do not have to do without some basic comforts, such as washroom and electricity. Big pluses of the Triglav House are also the ecological orientation and respect for the mountain ecosystem.

Czech hut

In the bosom of the Steiner Alps, more precisely on the Spodnje Ravne plateau, lies one of the oldest and most popular refuges in the Slovenian mountains - the Czech hut (sl. Češka koča). Its name reflects the Slovenian-Czech friendship that has lasted for over a century. Here you can take a breather, fortify yourself with delicious stews, down-to-earth lunches, strudel and homemade tea, and spend the night in one of the rooms or shared camps. The hut is an excellent starting point for a shorter tour to the peak Vratca or - for more experienced mountaineers - a climb to the Kočna, Grintavec, Dolgi hrbet or Skuta.

Orožnova koča

Between Bohinj and the alpine pasture Za Liscem below the mountain Črna prst, the refuge Orožnova koča awaits you. It stands on the foundations of the first hut of the Slovenian Alpine Club. This was built on the initiative of locals in the first year after the founding of the association. Here the Mediterranean climate mixes with the continental climate, which is why some rare plants thrive in this area.

Pogacnik House, 2052 m

The house is also called Križ lake hut. The Slovenian name is "Pogacnikov dom na Križkih Podih" (Dom=house). The very beautifully situated mountaineering accommodation close to the Križ lakes belongs to the Radovljica (Radmannsdorf) section of the Slovenian Mountaineering Federation. In 1951 the house, which is completely covered with glittering tin outside, was built. It was named after the vice president of the Slovenian Mountaineering Federation, Joze Pogacnik, who was born in 1927. He died in an accident on the way to the opening of the house named after him below the Razor.

Roblekhaus

On your way to the top of Begunjščica in the Karavanke Mountains you should stop at Roblekhaus (sl. Roblekov dom na Begunjščici). Homey atmosphere, hospitable operators and good mountain cuisine have been delighting visitors for years, most of whom come here from the Draga Valley above Begunje or from the Loibl Pass. The unique view of the neighboring Julian Alps with Triglav and across the valley, where Lake Bled sparkles, among other things, are other highlights of the Roblekhaus. In 2017, Roblekhaus was also voted the most popular Slovenian mountain hut.

Ruška koča

Ruška koča is the oldest and most visited refuge in the Pohorje Mountains. It is characterized by a wide range of outdoor activities and a local, alpine-inspired culinary offer. Try the traditional spoon dish Pohorski pisker as well as venison goulash and various mushroom dishes, and for dessert treat yourself to Pohorska omleta, a delicious sponge cake omelet with blueberry cream filling. Picnics and various excursions take place in summer, while in winter you can help build a snow village.
