The location in the middle of an almost round valley basin is exceptional, bordered by a pass in all four cardinal directions.

Cortina grew over the centuries to become an international stage.
Cortina d'Ampezzo is located in the northeast of the Veneto region, 72 kilometers from the provincial capital of Belluno. Nearby, the Ampezzo Valley borders on Trentino, or South Tyrol. The distance from the Austrian border is only 44 km. The wide valley, situated at an altitude of 1,224m, is surrounded by an incomparably beautiful natural scenery with some of the most fascinating mountains in the world.
With their 6 peaks over 3,000 meters high, the Ampezzo Dolomites are heaven on earth for hiking, climbing and MTB freaks.

A favorite venue for the dolce vita, Cortina has been a symbol of exclusivity, fashion and an international showcase for the 'Italian way of life' for over a century, unique and inimitable in the entire Alpine region.

Cortina is the only Italian vacation destination in the European group 'Best of the Alps', the international seal of approval for the twelve most famous and exclusive vacation destinations in the entire Alpine area.

The Tofana Group
is the most towering rocky backdrop of the mountains and frames the Ampezzo Valley. With its three peaks over 3,000 meters high, it stretches along the western side of the valley basin. Right next to the Olympic Stadium, a mountain railroad goes up to the highest peak of this massif, Cima Tofana. The Tofane offer innumerable possibilities for ascents of all levels of difficulty for mountain hikers and mountain bikers.

Faloria Cristallo Mietres
From the center, a cable car, overlooking the Ampezzo Valley, goes directly to the Faloria. From there, even the inexperienced can hike down into the valley and be enchanted by the enchanting nature. Rocks that drop vertically into emerald waters, white sand on the shores, snow walls on the surrounding slopes. The impressive walls of Sorapis and the slender shape of the "Dito di Dio" (Finger of God) make a hike to Sorapis Lake forever memorable.
