The Hochkönig is the Eldorado for winter sports enthusiasts and pleasure seekers - the heart of winter beats here!

When fairytale snowy landscapes meet perfectly groomed slopes, skiers and freestylers find their happiness just as much as cross-country skiers and culinary enthusiasts, then the winter season has begun on the Hochkönig. The Hochkönig region, with its three main resorts of Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach, is located in northern Salzburger Land near the border with Germany.

Vacation where winter is at home
Winter on the Hochkönig is not either/or, but both/and. Extensive, wide and perfectly groomed slopes make the hearts of skiers and snowboarders beat faster - whether it's their first turns on the practice slope or sporting challenges on the Marlies Schild training course.

A few meters away, cross-country skiers make their rounds against the majestic backdrop of the Hochkönig. 40 kilometers of professionally groomed trails are available. In Maria Alm there is also a night cross-country skiing trail and on the high-altitude trails in Mühlbach and on the Dientner Sattel you can glide across the snow very close to the sky.

Pure pleasure also awaits winter vacationers on the Hochkönig when tobogganing, winter hiking, ski touring or fat biking. Dusty powder and glittering deep snow slopes promise pure feelings of happiness for freeriders and with three snow and fun parks - the Blue Tomato Kings Park in Mühlbach is even one of the longest parks in Austria with 1.8 kilometers - and an 850-meter-long fun slope, the fun always goes with you.

Modern cable car facilities bring winter sports enthusiasts in the Hochkönig region comfortably and safely to the peak of emotions. A total of 33 lifts and 120 kilometers of fantastic slopes await vacationers in the Hochkönig region. This makes the ski swing between the ski resorts of Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach just perfect - all three resorts are seamlessly connected. Several valley runs in the villages provide individual entry points.

King's tour: 35 truly royal kilometers of pistes
6 peaks, 35 continuous kilometers of slopes, 7,500 vertical meters. Behind these numbers there is much more: breathtaking wide views provide new high feelings, perfectly groomed slopes for boundless skiing pleasure. Romantic as well as modernly interpreted mountain huts invite you to take a break along the perfectly groomed slopes. And everywhere a unique alpine panorama opens up with views of the majestic Hochkönig massif and the Steinerne Meer.

Enjoy like a king: the regional cuisine on the Hochkönig
For many, a perfect winter vacation also includes a stop for refreshments after a successful day of skiing. Culinary friends can draw from the full on the Hochkönig. This starts with the popular Almer Bauernkorb, which is filled with all kinds of regional delicacies. High up on the mountain, the enjoyment continues. Whether it's a down-to-earth hut with genuine home-style cooking, a noble gourmet restaurant with a touch of haute cuisine, a rustic restaurant with regional delicacies or a trendy lifestyle hut with Austrian finger food: the culinary offerings leave nothing to be desired.

In addition, the Hochkönig region has been a pioneer in vegan hut cuisine for years. The numerous certified vegan establishments and huts prove that Hochkönig enjoyment is also possible without meat. Vegetarians and Veganer can order meatless specialities already for the breakfast, as hut snack or dinner. With selected huts at least one vegan food as well as a vegan drink stand united beside the regional Schmankerln on the map.

Family winter on the Hochkönig
On the Hochkönig, the little ones are sensitively introduced to skiing and the slightly older ones are thrilled with action in the snow - so parents can enjoy their ski day to the fullest with a feeling of peace of mind. At the Schneewutzel kids' club in the region's ski schools, fun and safety come first when the little ones practice their first turns. Children under 6 ski free or are looked after in the guest kindergarten from the age of two.

The Hochkönig's cable car facilities have their own Schneewutzel access points to make it easier for children to get started. The Schneewutzel bypasses on more difficult slopes are also a relief for the kids - so they can enjoy their adventure in the snow safely and without fear. The somewhat older ones dare to do small jumps at the Funslope Schönanger at Aberg, try the wave run, explore a tunnel in the snow and much more.
