Alpine cattle drive in the Stubaital

The cattle drives are an annual highlight in the Stubai Valley. When the cattle make their way from the alpine pastures and meadows to their stables at home, it is clear that summer is now over. But that is no reason for melancholy. Especially because the cattle drives are celebrated with numerous festivals in the villages of the Stubaital. The farm animals are adorned with magnificent floral decorations and large bells before they head home. Tying the decorations takes a lot of work in advance, but the helpers put their heart and soul into it and live this tradition. Neustift begins this year on Saturday, September 7th, with the Almabtrieb. A week later, on Saturday, September 14, it continues in Fulpmes and Telfes. Farmers' markets and alpine festivals with musical entertainment provide for the physical well-being and good entertainment. Finally, on Saturday, September 21, the farmers lead the animals down into the valley in the Milders district of Neustift, followed by a celebration at the Brollerhof farm.
