Big open water swimming cup on July 14, 2024 at Lake Achensee. Swimmers cross the largest lake in Tyrol.

Lake Achensee, nestled in the picturesque scenery of the Tyrolean Alps, offers a breathtaking landscape for this unforgettable swimming experience.

For the first time, swimming can look forward to an event at Lake Achensee. The highlight of the long-distance swimming competition on 14 July 2024 will be the nine-kilometre crossing of Tirol's largest lake: from the Achensee North beach (Achenkirch lido) to the SEE pool in the Achensee atoll. This "supreme discipline" across Lake Achensee is also a race for the largest open water swimming cup in the German-speaking world. The "arena Alpen Open Water Cup" is a series of swimming events with a common points scoring system. For the first time, in addition to other Alpine lakes such as Lake Tegernsee and Lake Chiemsee, Lake Achensee now also appears as a venue for the swimming races and offers the longest scored course in the cup series.

Shorter distances for children and amateur swimmers
In addition to the long distance of nine kilometers, other races will take place as part of the event. Swimmers can also choose from distances of 5 kilometers (medium distance) or 2.5 kilometers (short distance). The 500 and 250 meter races are ideal for children, young people and amateur swimmers. The starting point and finish of each race is the SEE-Bad in the Atoll Achensee in Maurach, where race numbers are issued and the award ceremony takes place.
