Erazem Predjamski (Erasmus of Predjama)
Erazem Predjamski was a brave knight who stood up to the emperor and became a kind of Slovenian Robin Hood. He fled from the imperial army to Predjama Castle, where he resisted their attacks for more than a year. He procured food and other essentials through secret passages in the Karst underground. He was then betrayed by one of his servants. This servant signaled the emperor's soldiers to attack, who surprised Erazem and killed him.
But the spirit of Erazem lives on

The dragon of Ljubljana
You probably know the legend of the Greek mythological hero Jason and the Argonauts, who made their way across the Black Sea and the rivers Danube and Sava to the Adriatic Sea and on to Greece with the stolen Golden Fleece. You may not have known, however, that they also traveled to the Ljubljana Marshes ''Ljubljansko barje''. A terrible dragon is said to have lived there at the time, but Jason defeated it. Nevertheless, the dragon left traces all over the capital city of Ljubljana.

King Kralj Matjaž
The legend of King Matjaž tells of a good king who ruled the land of Carantania (Korotan). Carinthia flourished in his time, but this was a thorn in the side of other rulers. So they sent an army against the good king. He withdrew with a hundred of his soldiers into a hidden cave under Mount Petzen and sat down at a stone table. Legend has it that King Matjaž will return and banish injustice from the world when his beard has wrapped itself nine times around the table and a lime tree begins to grow in front of the entrance to the cave in the middle of winter...

Zlatorog (Goldhorn)
The realm of the golden horn ''Zlatorog'' stretches across the Julian Alps. According to legend, a billy goat with golden horns once ruled here, which were the key to an immense treasure. Once, an unhappy young hunter from Trenta shot him, but the Triglav cinquefoil ''Triglavska roža'' grew from the Zlatorog's blood, which gave the Zlatorog back his life force. The golden horn plunged the hunter into the abyss and destroyed his kingdom with its horns. The treasure remained hidden in the Triglav Mountains.

Curent
A curent is one of the best-known mythological creatures, a kind of Slovenian Dionysus who drives away evil spirits and brings joy, fertility and spring. In some stories, he appears as a violinist who plays a magic violin, invites people to dance and spreads joy. Today we know him mainly as a carnival figure from Ptuj. For centuries, people have believed that masks help to establish connections with demons, gods and spirits.
