Well, we can tell you that you can experience this mountain idyll on a hike along the international Alpe Adria Trail. The 750-kilometre trail connects three regions: the Austrian region of Carinthia, the western part of Slovenia and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The trail leads from the foot of Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner, to Muggia on the Italian Adriatic coast. Part of the route also crosses Slovenian territory, allowing you to discover the beauty of the Julian Alps all the way to the Karst.

Just imagine: You wake up in the morning in the majestic Julian Alps. The air tastes of fresh mountain forest, the morning mist slowly disappears from the peaks and in front of you lies a path that leads you straight into a natural fairy tale. The Soča rushes beside you - a wild river so surreally turquoise and crystal clear that you simply can't take your eyes off it. Welcome to the Slovenian section of the Alpe-Adria-Trail. While the world-famous long-distance hiking trail connects three countries along its 750 kilometers, the section through Slovenia is considered by connoisseurs to be the absolute heart of the entire route. On around 113 kilometers - spread over 6 unforgettable daily stages (stages 23 to 31) - you will experience the pure joy of walking in one of the most untouched regions of Europe.

Your journey on foot is a visual spectacle that changes with every step. You start in the world-famous winter sports resort of Kranjska Gora, conquer the epic Vršič Pass at an altitude of 1,611 meters and delve deep into the protected Triglav National Park. From there, the trail follows the legendary Soča Trail. You hike over gently swaying suspension bridges, past deep, mystical gorges and breathtaking waterfalls. As the crowning glory, the trail takes you to the historic Kolovrat mountain ridge on the Italian border. In good weather, an almost surreal panorama awaits you here: the snow-covered Alpine peaks on one side and the glistening Mediterranean on the other.

Hiking for connoisseurs: without ballast, with lots of flavor
What's special about the Alpe-Adria-Trail? It's not about top athletic performance or extreme climbing, but about conscious enjoyment and slowing down. The trails are technically moderate and excellently signposted. Thanks to the well thought-out comfort concept, you will hike as light as a feather. Each daily stage of 20 kilometers on average (approx. 6 hours walking time) ends in an idyllic village with excellent infrastructure. Forget heavy rucksacks and sleeping bags - a practical luggage transport service will reliably take your suitcase from accommodation to accommodation while you enjoy the day without a care in the world. In the evening, the trail turns into a culinary journey of discovery. Alpine traditions blend with Mediterranean lightness in the charming boutique hotels, guesthouses and traditional inns at the stage destination. After a fulfilling day in the saddle, there is hardly anything better than enjoying a freshly caught Soča trout, traditional Čompe (boiled potatoes with local sheep's cheese) and an excellent glass of Slovenian wine.

Short stage description
The Alpe Adria Trail crosses the Austrian-Slovenian border on the 23rd stage. The Slovenian part of the trail starts in Kranjska Gora, a well-known mountain sports center known for the Alpine Ski World Cup and Ski Jumping World Cup competitions. Over the Vršič Pass, you will reach the picturesque Soča Valley with one of the most beautiful rivers in the world. From the Trenta Valley, the trail leads you to Bovec and on to Tolmin, and in between, the path is made easier by the incredible masterpieces of nature and the Soča River. The trail then zigzags between the Slovenian and Italian sides. Then the trail makes a detour into the idyllic Brda region, the Slovenian Provence or Tuscany, so to speak, with the romantic villages of the Brda surrounded by vineyards, orchards and olive groves. The route through Slovenia also takes you to the Karst region and one of its greatest treasures - Lipica. It is home to the elegant white horses and is considered the oldest Lipizzaner stud farm in Europe. The route continues along the edge of the Karst towards the Gulf of Trieste and the Adriatic coast, where it ends.
