The Julian Alps, the Kamnik-Savinja Alps and the Pohorje Mountains are criss-crossed by numerous hiking and cycling trails that lead to the highest peaks and to the most beautiful rivers, lakes and waterfalls.
On one side, the Goldhorn watches over the natural treasures of Slovenia's highest peaks, greenest valleys and most beautiful lakes, while on the other side of the country, hilltop mountains border the city of the oldest vine in the world.

An oasis of peace and unspoiled nature in the Julian Alps and Triglav National Park. Bohinjis a unique place that combines the traditional and modern way of life. Lake Bohinj lies in the heart of the Triglav National Park, one of the oldest national parks in Europe. Pristine mountain pastures and mighty peaks rise above Slovenia's largest natural lake.
KRANJSKA GORA
in the heart of the Julian Alps, exciting vacation experiences await you - for sporty vacationers, connoisseurs and lovers of nature and culture. The mountains of the Julian Alps are a paradise for mountain hikers and climbers. Challenging mountain tours are a challenge for cyclists or you can simply enjoy a relaxed ride on the marked cycle paths. A popular destination for hikers and photographers is the picturesque Lake Jasna. The surrounding peaks of the Julian Alps are reflected in its calm, crystal-clear waters. There are numerous paths around Lake Jasna that meander through lush forests, alpine meadows and rocky terrain. They almost always offer breathtaking views of the lake and the surrounding mountains.
BLED
With its picturesque glacial lake and the castle perched on a mighty rock above the lake, Bled is one of the most beautiful Alpine resorts in Europe. Bled is characterized by a mild, healthy, sub-alpine climate and has the longest bathing season compared to other Alpine resorts. The peaks of the surrounding Julian Alps and Karavanke mountains protect the resort from cold northerly winds. The beauty of the mountains reflected in the lake water, sun, tranquillity and fresh air offer ideal conditions for pleasant relaxation or active vacations at any time of year.
SOČA VALLEY
Escape the stress of everyday life and indulge in active recreation in picturesque surroundings - in the Julian Alps, in Triglav National Park and on the emerald green Soča River. The Soča Valley is Slovenia's leading outdoor destination and a valley full of action, festivals and discoveries. The emerald green river invites you to enjoy a variety of water sports and is lined with numerous themed trails. The Soča is home to the largest trout species in the world (Salmo marmoratus), which can reach a length of more than 120 cm.
RADOVLJICA
The town of sweet experiences on the threshold of the Julian Alps. Radovljica, a medieval town with a moat and views of the Karavanke and Julian Alps, is known today as 'Sweet Radol'ca'. The tradition of beekeeping and honey is complemented by ever new sweet experiences. In the meantime, the town has become a true beekeeping and chocolate capital.
KRANJ
The capital of the Slovenian Alps, where you have one foot in the city and the other in nature. With 6000 years of continuous settlement, Kranj is Slovenia's oldest town. The town is situated on a rocky outcrop at the second largest town canyon in Europe. Thanks to the greatest Slovenian poet France Prešeren, it is also the cultural heart of Slovenia. The town's special feature is the canyon in the middle of the town center.
MARIBOR - POHORJE
The capital of Slovenian Styria. The Maribor-Pohorje region is the ideal starting point for discovering the special features of eastern Slovenia. The green mountains in the easternmost part of Alpine Slovenia are criss-crossed by numerous ski slopes as well as hiking and cycling trails and are located in the immediate vicinity of the city. The oldest grapevine in the world grows in the center of the city. The 400-year-old Žametovka vine, which is also known by numerous other names, is even listed in the Guinness Book of Records and is still bearing fruit.
ROGLA - POHORJE
Soothing alpine climate and green forests in the heart of the Pohorje mountains. The Rogla - Pohorje region attracts visitors with extensive forests, a peat bog and several lakes. Numerous paths and trails connect the Rogla ski resort and the Zreče thermal spa with interesting villages. Not far from Slovenske Konjice are the Žiče Charterhouse with the oldest inn in the country and the Cultural Center for European Space Technologies. The Lovrenška jezera lakes are a popular hiking destination. The small lakes are located in the peat bog of Pohorje between Planika (1391m) and Mulejev vrh (1533m) in the Radoljna, Mislinja and Velka headwaters. There are between 11 and 22 lakes, depending on the amount of water there at the time.
UPPER SAVINJA VALLEY
The idyllic valley with a unique natural backdrop where time stands still. The Upper Savinja Valley with the picturesque Logar Valley and the clear green Savinja River preserves the originality of life in the Alps. Experience pure nature in an iconic glacial valley, between mighty mountain peaks, a unique panoramic road and a picturesque flower park. Fossils from the Middle Triassic have even been found in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, which are now on display at the Rinka Center (Solčava).
KOROŠKA
A treasure trove full of surprises on the eastern edge of the Alps. The wooded mountain landscape of Koroška delights with the treasures of the UNESCO Karawanken Geopark - the underworld of the Petzen, the vast grasslands of the Pohorje mountains and the leisurely meandering Drava river.
